My dear
written November 2 2020
I held your face as time raced by
Seconds to hours to days to years
As the ocean in your eyes spilled into tears
There was nothing I wanted more than to hold you forever
As against all odds we were still together
And as many before have said,
Although none could have lead to this,
I love you more than words can describe
My dear with the ocean blue eyes
The wind rushed by
Carrying the sent of the sea
And I couldn't help but lust
As your eyes held King Midas’ very touch
They held the mountains with icy peaks
And the trees that had seen the dinosaurs speak
They held the shimmer many would kill for
Those told in myths and lore
But in this moment it was just you and I
My dear with the golden-brown eyes
The animals scurried about
To find a way back in after coming out
For somehow they knew
Bad weather was coming
as the birds all flew
Into your grey clouded eyes
As all past was forgotten
And all future was a surprise
My dear with the storm grey eyes
The grass swayed gently
Rocking back and forth
As the breeze brushed the hair from your face
Uncovering the open prairie in your eyes I chased
And I could feel nothing but alive and free
Following you dancing about
Over and under and all around
Watching you seemingly at home
With a warm and welcoming tone
Happy and growing as the tip tops of trees
My dear with the eyes of leaf green
Seconds to hours to days to years
As the ocean in your eyes spilled into tears
There was nothing I wanted more than to hold you forever
As against all odds we were still together
And as many before have said,
Although none could have lead to this,
