the ''pegasus" series
by kate o'hearn, CONTINUATION (written 2015-2016)
This is a continuation of the "Pegasus" series. I wrote this because I loved the series so much that I didn't want it to end. I would really recommend it. Also, you don't have to read the story before reading this, it just might make things a bit clearer.
Days have passed since Olympus was destroyed and people seemed to have settled quite well on Titus so far as the homes and other daily needs. But when it came down to the people becoming friends with the Titans, it wasn't going to well. And who could blame them? They have been at each other's throats for years. Even if now The Big Three and Saturn are working together, it's not that easy to be friendly with people you were taught to hate.
"Are you ready?" Pegasus said, laughter echoing throughout his voice. He looked at her with a sparkle to his eyes.
"For what?" Emily looked at him with as if she had lost all sense of space and time. Like when you just wake up, before looking at the clock. She sat in the many gardens surrounding the palace, watching the flowers swag in the gentle breeze. The grass looked like the surface of the silver sea, or maybe even like a painting. Emily fit in so well with everything, it was so tempting to leave her there, with the flowers and the grass and the little creatures scurrying around her, experimenting with her newfound ability. She seemed so distant, so far away, so out of it.
"We have the gathering, remember? Em, we have been talking about this for 3 days. Do you not see all the preparations?" Even though he could not understand the winged stallion, he had an idea about what he had said. Joel sat down next to Emily and all the little animals scurried away. She brought her eyes up to meet his. He looked at her with fondness and just a little bit of worry. There wasn't a single thing he wouldn't do for her.
"Yes, we were all sent to come retrieve you. You have to get ready, you are the guest of honor after all." Cupid dropped down to the ground from his resting place in the tree above and chuckled at the two. His hair was as perfect as usual, gloden in the sun of the mid afternoon sky.
"You have been drifting, as joel put it, for quite sometime. We did not mean to disturb you, you most definitely deserve your you time." Paelen said, the confusion just peeking out from under his words. All of her closest friends were her with her now, and it truly was a sight to see.
"Well, actually...." Joel snickered and quickly jumped up onto his feet.
"What? What do you mean Actually?" Emily got up at near lightning speed and leaned towards him. She knew that he was going to say something stupid, and she could barely keep her laughter in, but she kept on with her act.
"I have barely been able to see you since you came back from the dead, for the third time, if I may add. I was only able to give you ONE speech, I mean how crazy is that? I totally wanted to disturb you." Joel never broke his serious face, but you could see he was struggling. The others watched with amusement.
"Oh, is that so? You wanted to give me another 5 hour lecture about being careful?" She inched closer and closer to him, like a cat hunting her prey.
"What? No, of course not! I was going to give you a 10 hour lecture this time." He knew that he was walking on thin ice, and so he said this with a softer tone, like one you would use with a child.
"Oh, I am so sorry for my mistake. I had no idea you were going to give me a chance to sleep before my big day!" The others were obviously confused, but had gotten used to not knowing what was going on between the two of them. Suddenly, the pair bust into action, Emily chancing her lover and yelling at him to slow down. But joel was smart, and was used to being pushed to the limits with his physical strength, because the olympians were naturally much stronger and capable. So he grabbed onto the tree that cupid was leaning on and caught up with her. He pounced on her and kissed her, right there, in front of everyone.
"Ok, there was no way that that was fair." Emily said between the snorts and breathes. She was laying on her back, looking up, past joel, and to the sky. There wasn't a cloud in sight. Joel rolled off, and lay right next to her, staring a the blue sky. They lay there, in there own world before Joel broke the silence.
"I know what your thinking about Em, and I'm won't judge you. Actually, I was thinking the same thing." He turned onto his side to face her. "I wish that there was some way that we could go back to Earth, just see what it's like without the CRU. And maybe to just relax, have a bit of fun, you know?" At this point cupid sat in the tree above them and Pegasus and Pealen sat around the two. Emily looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears that she would never let fall.
"I just," She caught the tears rolling down her face and took the rest with her. "I wish I could talk to my friends from school again, you know? I had to leave them without," She took another pause, trying to hold everything back. "without even saying goodbye. At Least to show them that I'm okay and to make sure they were to." The silence came again, this time pulled everyone down under.
"I know how much humans care for each other in their short life, because we had to study this, of course. And I have been thinking about something I think that both of you will find interesting." As much as he will deny it, Paelen would always have a knack for breaking the rules and sneaking around. It was just part of him, since he spent so much of his life doing just that.
"No, no, no. You told me about this and I listened but you will not poison their minds with your crazy idea. I will not let you." Cupid said, most evidently concerned.
"No, let him go on, Cupid. We all wish to hear what it is he wishes to voice." Pegasus said, in the most elegant form possible. Still, Joel could not understand him, but he had picked up on a few tricks to figure out what was happening when the glowing stallion spoke.
"Thank you noble Pegasus," Cupid tried to sound as formal as possible "My idea was as follows: We go to Earth, quickly. Just to catch a glance to see what's happening. We can wear our clothes we got from Hawaii to blend in, should we need to go onto the ground. We will find your friends quickly and leave before anyone notices." He was very proud of his idea, now standing tall on the ground walking around everyone else.
"We have tried to do that many times, if you don't remember Tornado Warning. We were just going to go down to see what was happening, and then we got sucked into a whole thing with clones and Area 51 and almost destroyed Earth." Paelen said. Now he was the one who felt proud of his argument.
"Yes, but all those times we have tried before the CRU was right there waiting for us. They had the snake's eyes all over the place, watching us like hawks." Cupid responded, knocking his opponent back down.
"That is an interesting proposition. We would most definitely accompany them on this journey but the decision is not ours. They must choose whether or not to try to return to their home world and see their friends or to stay here until Emily has to return to Xanadu." Pegasus always had such a strong and leading voice.
"Ok, first, they are called cameras, not snake's eyes, even though that's kind of what they are. And second, I agree with Pegs, and I love the idea. Going back to Earth with no CRU would be amazing. But I won't go unless Emily wants to. It's her day, and it might be the last chance she gets. So, it's up to her." Joel always had a hard kind of kindness, like a parent talking to their child. He looked over to her now, as his eyes held the question of what his day was going to be.
"There is nothing I would love more than to see my friends again. But, isn't it risky? I mean, I know that there is no more CRU, but there is still the police who are after us, not only because those where orders they got, but also because we stole a bunch of stuff and wrecked like 8 cars." Emily seemed to have all this thought out, as if she had planned this conversation before during the restless nights they all had had. Joel put his arm around her and pulled her in. She made a fair point, but he could tell she wished she hadn't thought of it.
"Look Em, you're just overthinking. As long as we don't steal anything or do something stupid, we will be fine. We stay out of sight, and then we meet up with your friends, you introduce us and make up an elaborate excuse for everything and then we get out of there. Done." Joel looked at her, continuing his point with an assured gaze.
